Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how CardSnap (the "App") handles information when you use it.


1. Information We Access and Why


- Camera and Photos: The App uses your camera, or a photo you choose from your gallery, to identify sports cards. When you scan a card, the photo of its front (and back, if you take one) is sent to Google's Gemini API (a service of Google LLC) solely to identify the card, estimate its condition (grade) and estimate its value. We do not store your photos on our own servers. Google processes this data under its own terms: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms and https://policies.google.com/privacy

- Your Name and Preferences (optional): During setup you can enter a first name and choose your sports, leagues, collecting goals and collecting style. This information is used only to personalise the App (for example, to greet you by name) and is stored only on your device.

- Local Storage: Your scan history, collection, card photos, folders, notes, favourites and settings are stored locally on your device. We do not upload or back up this data to our servers.

- Internet Access: Used to send card photos for identification, to obtain configuration needed to access the identification service, and to process purchases. The configuration request is served through Cloudflare, which receives standard technical data such as your IP address as part of delivering the request: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

- Marketplace Links: The App can open searches for your card on eBay and Google Shopping in your browser or in the eBay app. Only a search phrase built from the card details (for example player, year, set and card number) is included in the link. Once opened, those websites are governed by their own privacy policies.

- Sharing and Export: When you choose to share a card or export your collection as a CSV file, the App uses your device's standard share menu. The data goes only to the app or person you select.


The App does not access your location, contacts, microphone, or any other personal files.


2. In-App Purchases and Billing


The App offers optional premium subscriptions (weekly, monthly and annual) and an optional one-time scan pack.


- Payment Processing: All transactions are handled by Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store your payment card numbers, bank details, or billing address.

- Transaction Data: Google Play provides us with purchase and subscription status (for example, order IDs and timestamps) so we can grant access to premium features.

3. Estimates Disclaimer


Card identifications, grades and values provided by the App are AI-generated estimates for information purposes only. They are not professional grading, appraisal or financial advice.


4. Data Protection and Your Rights


- No Account, No Personal Profile: The App does not require an account. We do not collect your email address or phone number, and the optional first name you enter never leaves your device.

- No Advertising or Analytics: The App does not display ads, does not use advertising identifiers and does not use analytics or tracking tools.

- No Selling of Data: We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

- GDPR / RODO: If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data and to object to its processing. Because your data is stored on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting scans and cards in the App, clearing the App's data, or uninstalling the App.

- Children: The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.


5. Data Retention and Deletion


All App data stays on your device until you delete it. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App permanently removes all locally stored data. Photos sent for identification are processed by Google according to the Gemini API terms linked above; we do not keep copies on our servers.


6. Security


Your collection and history are stored locally on your device. Data sent for identification is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).


7. Changes to This Policy


We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. The latest version will always be available at this link and in the Google Play Store listing.
